Review of the Tavis Smiley Show on PBS | MyPaperHub

The Tavis Smiley Show is a late night television program broadcasted on Public Broadcasting Service (PBS). The show that is hosted by Tavis Smiley is also on American public broadcasting radio as a talk show featuring Tavis Smiley as the host. With more than a decade of broadcasting with PBS since it began in 2004, it has gained massive popularity and also put Tavis Smiley on the roadmap of being one of the most influential Television hosts in the history of America. The show has followed a very similar style of a show having topics to discuss on a variety of subjects and also on entertainment. Over the years, it has been able to scoop some of the awards including the 2005 and 2006 NAACP Image Awards for its Outstanding News, television, and Talk or information series ("Tavis Smiley | PBS").

The Tavis Smiley show is one of those shows that one does not want to miss especially after a day full of hustle. It is because, it has a high energy exchange of the views, commentaries, insights and also information of which I think they always need to remind the viewers that the show does not represent any facts but opinions of the hosts and the interviewees. It is because some of the individuals that watch the American shows tend to think that the show hosts such as Tavis have the facts, but I tend to think they just have more interesting and entertaining viewpoints.

The show has been able to blend news clearly, and the newsmakers blended into it to create heated conversations and further insights through the expanded conversations that ensue the show. It is this that offers an interaction between the viewers and the Newsmakers and can be inspirational in some way. However, in some cases, it is a clear way of promulgating propaganda or just creating a buzz over something. It is because the interviewees are clearly well selected depending on the buzzing news and also their importance and fame resulting to higher ratings of the show making Tavis Smiley show just another ratings hunting entrepreneurial show on Television as we have over the course of time in American television. It is this that could be further illustrated by the selection of Tavis Smiley by the Times as being among the top 50 most promising new leaders ("Tavis Smiley | PBS").

Newsweek also profiled Smiley as among the 20 people “changing how Americans get their news." ("Tavis Smiley | PBS") The show blends a variety of topics that it discusses including on the realm of health, finance, sports, technology, pop culture and even politics. He explores the issues that matter to Americans or the viewers on a weekly basis. The Tavis Smiley show on PBS is, therefore, informing, entertaining and insightful but I would never lose my sleep over viewpoints given since it is more entertaining conversations that take place there than the facts on the ground.
