Freedom of Religion | MyPaperHub

Freedom of faith is one of the main doctrines through which the American system of governance is based. It is a fundamental right that also protects the integrity of an individual as well as allowing an individual to express, think, and act upon their beliefs. Religion varies from one society to the other, and the major religious denominations include Catholics, Muslims, Buddhists, Atheists, and Judaism (Maussen & Grillo, 2014). Religion has a special role in society. Religion helps exert a positive influence on society because the community needs social, spiritual, and physical guidance under a neutral place.

In America and also globally, freedom of religion is eroding. There is a lot of goodwill that the community and church members can do to strengthen and maintain religious freedom (Maussen & Grillo, 2014). However, religious institutions, individuals as well as churches face increasing limitations to serve the community or to express their beliefs. Politicians mock the claims of spiritual integrity among the believers, while the government actors and entities treat religious expression and freedom as barriers to be broken down rather than values to be protected.

Religion prohibits certain practices, for example, abortion. But there are various contexts within the society whereby individuals are required to undergo such vices against their religious beliefs (Maussen & Grillo, 2014). For instance, health care professionals and employers promote an increase in abortion in certain provisions like in school-going children, thereby going against the societal beliefs and morals. The rise in disregard for religious freedom presents a standoff from the American tradition of promoting religious expressions and practices to a pragmatic form of expression.

In conclusion, freedom of religion helps individuals protect their spiritual and cultural morals. Religion involves the expression of the public’s moral and social issues. However, limitations by the government as well as private organizations, have created a loophole towards the beliefs and practices of one’s faith.
