The establishment of
North Korea as its sovereign state came in the hands of Kim II-Sung. He is a
man considered as the founding father of the North Koran nation. The film
explores aspects of North Korean society about the society’s system of
government and leadership since its inception. The film begins with the
preparation of the hundred and fifth birthday of Kim II-sung which is
celebrated annually. Thousands of people meet together to celebrate the birth
of the man they consider as their founding father. The film puts more focus on
orphans whereby they are made to believe and are taught to know and understand
the importance of Kim II-Sung who is considered as the father of the nation.
The society is taught to know that Kim II-sung established a system of
government that is there to provide them with all their needs. According to the
film, most of the people in the country are made to believe that the birth of
Kim II-sung was the beginning of the country’s greatness. The film is,
therefore, about Kim II-sung and his successors about the perceptions of the
society towards them. They are considered as the most important people in North
Korea, and their high regard is shown in the film through the celebrations and
high praise. However, the film also explores the aspect of brainwashing of
children which is used to develop influence in support of the Kim dynasty.
Kim II-Sung was the
country’s first leader, and his reign began in the year 1949 until the year
1994. He was succeeded by his son Kim Jong-iI whose reign was from 1994 until
his death in 2011. He has succeeded his son Kim Jong Un who is the current
supreme leader of the North Korea. The film first depicts celebrations of the
birthday of the country’s founding father Kim II Sung. He was in power for forty-six
years and this period was characterized by high standards of living for the
citizens of North Korea. He made great developments in the country that have
been celebrated for many years. The birthday of Kim II-sung was named “the day
of the sun, †and it was named soon after his death. The day was made an annual
public holiday and is considered as one of the most important days in North
Korea. He was a leader loved by many.
The film shows Kim II Sung’s visit to a textile mill that was performing well at
the time. He was impressed by on the factory’s leader who was a woman and
awarded her with a house. This was a highly regarded gesture that was praised
by many and encourage many citizens of the country to work harder in different
aspects of their lives.
Kim II Sung was a very
influential leader in the North Korean society. After his death, many
institutions and public places were named after him. Kim Il Sung established an
authoritarian system of government and was succeeded by his son. The country
puts high regard to their supreme leaders. The film explores aspects of
manipulation and brainwashing of the society. As an authoritarian government
the society has little power and more control is left in the hands of the
supreme leaders. These leaders control all the aspects of the people and are
forced to live based on the requirements placed by the government. The film
explores mandatory celebration that praises the ideologies and principles
established by the country’s leaders. The film was therefore developed to show
how a leader in North Korea use manipulation and brainwashing to influence the
perceptions of the people to control them.
