Harris (2008) explores the different
viewpoints about the second-trimester abortion. The issue of abortion is very
complicated because of the high level of polarization between those that
support it and those that oppose. The article explores the question of how
doctors decide whether or not to carry out an abortion on second-trimester
pregnancies. The issue of the appropriate time to carry out an abortion is very
much asked. The article explores the difficult choices doctors and pregnant
women face when dealing with the issues of abortion. In addition to aspects of
law and social-political factors, there are others that exist, and they
include, the violent nature of second-trimester abortion, psychological and
personal factors, ethical concerns and visceral concerns associated with the
fetus. This is all aspects that doctors have it had considering because in most
cases, such pregnancies offer great dangers to the fetus and pregnant mothers.
Pro-choice advocates emphasize the need to consider the life of the pregnant
mothers in terms of the physical, social and economic well-being.
Reflection
The article sheds light on the
difficult issue that is abortion. Legalization of abortion is a measure that
has taken consideration of the life of pregnant women. However, there are very
many factors that revolve around the issue of abortion. These issues have
created great disputes between the pro-choice movement and the anti-abortion.
On the one hand, opponents view abortion at second trimester as violent while
proponent considers social, physical and economic factors influencing the lives
of pregnant women. Abortion is, therefore, a matter that has polarized the
society. It is an issue with great concerns that require a lot of thinking and
consideration.

Summary
The article explores various
perceptions and notions associated with the bible. The article, first of all,
describes the biblical version of the notion of abortion. The author points out
that there is no solid mention on the issue of abortion in either the old or
the New Testament. This is despite the high number of opponents of abortion who
base their theories using theories from the bible. One of the major issues
based on the bible is the law associated with murder. The bible is very clear
on the issue of taking life. However, it begs the question of whether a fetus
in the womb is an actual and where the issue of murder applies to them. Another
issue is that most women are forced into abortion. Of abortion claim that most
women and girls feel pressured into the act. Another perspective is that
abortion is very dangerous. It poses great risks of injuries to women. The
article is, therefore, effective in offering a different perspective of
abortion based on the viewpoints of its opponents.
Reflection
The article, therefore, shows various issues of abortion. Many factors make the issue of abortion have so many opponents. They include religious factors. Health implications, social factors, racism and many others. These are all valid claims that require great considerations especially from policymakers. However, there is also the great need for consideration of opposite opinions. Many of the issues of abortion have in many capacities failed to major questions of abortion. This shows that the issue of abortion is highly divided. There is, therefore, a great need for a consensus between the opposite sides.
