Leadership Wisdom: Creating a Positive Environment for Team Excellence

Many great leaders prefer building and leading an elite team since no one wants to lead people based on mediocrity. This is because this is a negative reflection on the leadership. Based on my understanding, to be a great leader, one needs to be able to create a good environment for leadership. The culture and environment around people often create the attitude they have towards their leader. Therefore, I realized that when one is able to create a good leadership environment, they are then able to appeal to their teams who in turn recognize the leadership role that they play. It is also important to make the people that one is responsible for feeling safe.  Leadership is all about loyalty and trust and once one is able to trust the leadership around them, they tend to feel a great sense of comfort. Another way to ensure one is a great leader is through avoiding complaining about or criticizing people a lot. This is a sure way of demotivating people especially when they make mistakes. One needs to, however, concentrate on the positive and look at mistakes as new opportunities to improve. Leaders are also encouraged praise improvement, even when the improvements are only minor. According to psychologists, when the desired behavior is positively reinforced, people have a higher chance of repeating that behavior. One has a high chance of being a good leader if they focus more on the use of positive reinforcement rather than criticism and threats.

In conclusion, being able to manage and lead people effectively is not dependent on technical tools rather than being able to relate to people skillfully. Once one is able to manage human interactions and relations skillfully, they have a higher chance of emerging as successful leaders.
